IN BRIEF

Bouygues Energies & Services, BYME and VSL have handed over the biggest solar farm in South-East Asia to Helios Solar Energy Corporation. This large-scale project with a total output of 132 MWp will contribute to making up some of the chronic shortfall in the Philippines’ power production with renewable energy.

A turnkey contract:

Bouygues Energies & Services was awarded the EPC (Engineering Procurement & Construction) contract for this solar farm.

The works began in May 2015, with the installation of more than 425,000 panels over an area of 170 hectares. The power plant, which is connected to the national grid, will generate close to 190,000 MWh a year, equivalent to the average yearly consumption of 170,000 Filipino households.

Bouygues Energies & Services made a performance commitment regarding the facility at the time of handover for the first years of its operation - around 60 local employees are to work on-site to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the plant for a period of four years.

Local development and involvement:

The Bouygues Construction group recruited and trained more than 1,500 local employees, some of whom will also be involved in operating and maintaining the solar farm over the long term. Bouygues Construction also took action to support local communities, improving access to education and fighting malnutrition in surrounding villages.
